As customers' technical and informational needs evolve, it is essential that the company provide maximum flexibility in terms of analytical methods and presentation of data. Toward that end, Landauer has acquired an enhanced database management system that significantly broadens the data formats available to customers and, at the same time, absorbs more of the customer's administrative burden for management of their radiation safety programs.

The results of laboratory analyses—reports, audit trail documents, and special notations—are all maintained on an archival basis for future reference. OSL detectors, processed film, and plastic track etch devices are stored at an off-site archive facility and can be retrieved to physically document reported values. The ability to retrieve documentation for a particular determination after forty years and over 100,000,000 analyses is the critical link in Landauer's chain of custody and credibility in exposure history maintenance.
